ASBlog recommends…

Read an article or chapter that struck a chord? Give your comrades and colleagues a punchy little recommendation!

In this new series, AnarchistStudies.Blog invites you to celebrate recent anarchist scholarship. Academia is a strange world, but genuinely interesting research and writing does still happen (despite everything). That work deserves to be read, and sharing our responses helps to fire contemporary debates.

We’re looking for your reflections on journal articles and edited book chapters published in the past 3 years. Avoid a purely descriptive overview or précis; we want your personal/scholarly/activist response to the work. But keep it snappy – 750 words maximum, please. You might prefer to record a video or audio reflection, which we’re happy to host (alongside a transcript). And the work must be publicly available, whether that’s on an Open Access basis, or pirated on a peer-to-peer sharing site.

Your recommendations will be published on AnarchistStudies.Blog as a distinct series, and collated into an annual review. Got something in mind? Here’s how to get involved:

  • E-mail your contributions to: jim.donaghey@ulster.ac.uk
  • Word limit: 750.
  • Video/audio length: 5 minutes max (provide transcript).
  • Responding to/reflecting on work published in the last 3 years.
  • The work can be a journal article or a chapter in an edited volume (or a similar publication form). No reviews of books please (these are already published in Anarchist Studies journal).
  • The work must be available Open Source or peer-to-peer (provide the link).
  • The scholarship should be anarchist-related in some shape or form, but we keep an open mind!
